Actor Christopher Atkins celebrated his 60th birthday this past Sunday with a special private event at Fairfield’s Wake-Cup-Coffee, located on the southbound side of the Fairfield Metro Train station.

Close friends, family and honored guests attended the special occasion both in person and virtually. Among the attendees was Connecticut State Senator Tony Hwang.

Some of Atkins’ memorabilia related to his over 100 films and 40 years in Hollywood was on display at the event.

Atkins is best known for his main role in the 1980 film “The Blue Lagoon”, directed by Randal Kleiser (“Grease”) and also featuring young Brooke Shields.

Atkins continues to be very active in the movie business and to support the Alzheimer’s Association of CT. Originally from Rye, NY, Atkins now calls Fairfield home.

He praised the owners of Wake-Cup-Coffee for the heart-warming reception for his jubilee. “Thank you, Stanley, Nadia, family and friends for celebrating a special night and the best birthday of my life,” said Atkins.

Wake-Cup-Coffee opened doors in 2020 during the pandemic, but has been thriving because of community support, warm family atmosphere and great fresh roasted coffee. It also quickly became well-known for its in-house made Bavarian pretzels, exquisite desserts and unique dishes.

Senator Hwang gave an inspiring speech welcoming Atkins to the town. He also emphasized the community support for the success of this new business.
