Norwalk Public Library Indie and Local Author Celebration

news

Norwalk, CT – The Norwalk Public Library is excited to announce that the 6th annual Local and Indie Author Celebration Day returns to in-library visits by nearly 100 Connecticut writers, double any previous year’s offering. The events will take place on Friday, November 4 and Saturday November 5, 2022 and will include activities for all ages at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Avenue.

The library hosts authors throughout each day throughout the library featuring authors in presentations in the Main Auditorium, reading from their children’s books in the Children’s Room and talking about Teen Books in the Teen Room. The authors will also be displaying and exhibiting their books throughout the entire library, selling and signing books and meeting and greeting excited readers. There will be a display set up in the library with a raffle beginning October 26th. Norwalk Public Library, Director of Library Information Services, Cynde Bloom Lahey is excited about the response from the local writing community and said “The depth and number of subjects; fiction and non-fiction for adults, children and teens written by members of our cities and towns in Connecticut is breathtaking.” Norwalk resident, Bette Bono, author of two novels and the recently published short story collection“Neighbors and Other Stories” has coordinated a panel, Writers as Teachers; Teachers as Writers with Laurel Peterson, Norwalk’s former Poet Laureate, Meira Rosenberg and Marla Sterling. Other panels include, Paths to Publication, Writing Your Life : Memoir and Fiction : Making it Up.

Each year, libraries and other organizations welcome local indie authors, writers and readers in their communities, for a day of education, networking, writing, open mics, panels, and so much more! Now, more than ever before, is the time to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with other writers and publishing professionals to learn, share, spread the word about your work, and sell books.

There will be time to chat with seasoned authors, to collaborate and discuss strategies for getting independently published books into libraries and bookstores; marketing; design; and, of course, writing. There will be a process in place for books to be signed and purchased by readers, and, once again, Norwalk PL will distribute a booklet featuring Indie and Local Author Celebration participants and their books, which will be available for pick-up by patrons in the library.

Norwalk Public Library’s Indie Author Day Celebration, 2022, will be a day to celebrate the written word, to celebrate storytellers and to celebrate our Connecticut writers. The event is free and open to the public! For additional information, please contact Cynde Bloom Lahey at (203) 899-2780, ext. 15133 or email clahey@norwalkpl.org.
