SilverSource received a $50,000 grant from the John H. & Ethel G. Noble Charitable Trust to support the organization’s Housing Stability program. This is the second grant provided by the Trust to SilverSource.

The SilverSource Housing Stability Program addresses the urgent needs of older adults who are facing a crisis, or struggling financially, providing emergency financial assistance, counseling and advocacy to older residents facing the loss of their home, utility shut off, or transitioning from homelessness to stable housing.

Last year, the SilverSource social work team assisted more than 500 older adults with emergency housing stability issues, and managed more than 2,157 cases.

“We are truly grateful for the support of the John H. & Ethel G. Noble Charitable Trust, which will help us to keep a roof over the heads of area seniors who are facing eviction. This program helps older adults maintain their livable, safe housing, and reduces the risk of homelessness due to financial insecurity,” said Kathleen Bordelon, Executive Director of SilverSource. “With this support, we will be able to provide assistance for stable housing and aging in place to even more low-income older adults in our area.”

Preventing homelessness, helping older adults remain safely in their homes and moving seniors from homelessness to stable housing are just some of the many services SilverSource provides. The organization also provides short-term financial support for food and home delivered meals, uncovered medical care and prescriptions, heating oil and utilities, hearing and vision care, personal alert systems, moving and funeral expenses. Additionally, SilverSource helps Fairfield County’s older residents and their families navigate the challenges that come with aging, and provides accessible transportation to and from medical appointments with a Ride to Wellness program.
