Norwalk, CT – The City of Norwalk, American Legion Post 12, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 603 announced that The Wall That Heals visit to Norwalk originally scheduled for this August has been postponed. The joint decision was made out of an abundance of caution, given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This decision was not made easily or lightly. Many people put a lot of time and effort into bringing The Wall That Heals to Norwalk. I know we all have a heavy heart that this event has to be postponed,” said Norwalk Mayor Harry W. Rilling. “I appreciate the hard work of the American Legion, VFW, and the entire committee for their efforts. I know we will find another way to honor Vietnam veterans in our community before The Wall That Heals returns.”
The Wall That Heals is the preeminent replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and travels the country as a way for people to honor those lost during the Vietnam War in their community. The exhibit by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. Local groups remain hopeful that dates in 2021 can be secured to bring The Wall That Heals to Norwalk.
